Editing is now complete, and the sound mix is almost finished as well. It's SO CLOSE!
Finished shooting on July 10th 2006. I have been editing, designing the sound track and composing the music for it ever since. The shoot was a great experience, both in learning and loving the art and craft of film-making. Everyone involved was great. The actors gave great performances and it really shows. The project is coming together very nicely, and I can't WAIT until it's done, and it can be born unto the world!
Some information on the genesis of this project: For years I've been wanting to shoot another horror film, and do it RIGHT. Since graduating from film school many years ago, I really hadn't had the opportunity to do my "own" thing. My wife suggested this is a perfect time in our lives to quit complaining and "just do something already!" I started writing immediately after that, and less than a month later, I had revision number 5. I've always been told to write from experience, so I drew on many real life inspirations to breathe life into my characters. Some situations that they get into or experience happened to me. However, no-one I know has been chased and stalked by a serial killer! (Although I personally have had many a stalker!)
My wife had taken Forensic Anthropology at University, so the character of Karen is also studying the same thing. Her class is unfortunately picked to "volunteer" on a body search in the woods. There is also a plot point in the story that happened to me in high school. Very bizarre at the time, I was too immature to act properly to the whole situation, so I (and our collective group of friends) decided to forget about it, after bitching for hours and watching the sun rise.
I've been a fan of the film Halloween since I was 12 years old. Once I saw that movie, I knew what I wanted to do with the rest of my life...make movies. (in some form or another) That movie affected me on so many levels, it's hard to explain. Of course, my story contains elements of Halloween, but one could say that almost 95% of the horror films that proceeded it do. Mines just shorter!
I plan on updating this site best I can until the film is finished. Please check back often!
